Slingshot Hip Hop had its NY premiere on April 5th and 6th at the 2008 New Directors/New Films festival. It was presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center and the Museum of Modern Art. We had a great time and the crowd was awesome and both screenings were sold out! Abeer was there along with many of the people who worked on the film.

Palestinian Hip Hop made it’s big screen debut at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. DAM, Abeer and Mohammed Al-Farra (of Palestinian Rapperz) flew out to attend the festival and spoke at the end of all six of the sold out screenings. The emcees rocked a number of live shows during the week, energizing the crowd on every occasion. Click here to see some of the photos from the week:

We were also lucky to collaborate with the multi-talented NY based crew, Graffiti Research Lab, throughout the week. They’ve posted a video recap of Sundance exploits at their site:

Despite our best efforts, three of our featured emcees – Mahmoud Shalabi from Akka, Kan’aan, and Mezo from Gaza – were denied visas by the US embassy in Israel and could not join us at Sundance. They were sorely missed.
